“Silence” by Jan Costin Wagner

Wagner, Jan Costin.  Silence: A Novel of Crime.  (F Wag)

A young girl disappears while cycling to volleyball practice. Her abandoned bike is found in exactly the same place that another girl was assaulted and murdered thirty-three years previously. The perpetrator was never brought to justice. Detective Kimmo Joentaa calls upon the help of his older colleague Ketola. While they are following up leads, Kimmo discovers that the truth is not always what you expect.

Reader 1:

Clear clean prose (though the translation is sometimes evident).  Wonderful characters.

Reader 2:

Guilt unraveling and guilt not known–not an enjoyable read.
